Crossing Guard Training

Thursday, January 19 2012 from 2:45-3:45pm in the Traylor Staff Lounge

As many of our community members know, arrival and dismissal time at Traylor are busy! In order to ensure our students’ safety, we are hosting a Crossing Guard training. Denver Public Schools Safety and Security will be conducting training for Volunteer Crossing Guards on Thursday, January 19 from 2:45-3:45pm in the Traylor Staff Lounge. (Please sign in and get a visitors’ pass at the office first.) This hands-on-training will give us the knowledge and tools to improve the safety at our cross walks before and after school.

The training is free and all parents/guardians are welcome to attend.

All interested parents/guardians must complete the DPS volunteer paper work prior ro starting as crossing guards, but all are welcome to the training. We will have the Volunteer Paperwork available at the training and we will also have copies in our office at traylor Academy throughout the year.

Please call us if you have any questions. You can reach us at 720-424-3480.

We hope to have a number of parents interested in this training opportunity so we can build a volunteer schedule for before and after school cross walk duty!

Thank you for your help in making our community as safe as possible for our students and families!

SCHOOL CHOICE/ENROLLMENT CHANGES

Beginning in the 2012-2013 school year, DPS is making it easier to enroll in a new school or to continue to choice into your current school!  The new “SchoolChoice” enrollment process will allow students to list their top five preferences on one form, instead of having to complete separate applications for different types of schools.  This one application may be turned in at any DPS School.

All traditional, innovation, magnet, and charter schools will offer SchoolChoice enrollment beginning with the December 1 – January 31, 2012 enrollment period.  Students who enroll though SchoolChoice will be notified of their match beginning March 1.

At Traylor Fundamental Academy, we are a magnet school.  All families of current ECE, Kindergarten and 5th Grade students will receive information about how to complete the process since they are in “transitioning” grades. Families interested in enrolling their children in ECE for the 2012-2013 school year should also come by the Traylor Academy Office to obtain the information they need to start the process.

We encourage families to complete this process during the first enrollment period before the end of January.

The new SchoolChoice Guide will be posted to http://schoolchoice.dpsk12.org
