Being the principal at Traylor Academy is an adventure every day! There is a level of excitement in classrooms and hallways all day long, and learning is everywhere. I love being the principal of Traylor Academy.
I started my educational career as a paraprofessional in my children’s school in Colorado Springs after staying home with my twin boys and daughter for several years. My mother had been an amazing teacher, so I knew I had it in my blood when I decided to go back to college to finish my degree and get my teaching certificate. After being a long-term substitute, my first classroom teaching job was in a brand new school in Douglas County teaching 5th grade. Over the years I’ve taught 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grades in rural small-town Colorado, suburban Douglas County, San Antonio, Texas, and in Denver Public Schools. I’ve also been an Administrative Assistant, Assistant Principal, and now, Principal. I have loved every job I’ve had as an educator!
I am a mom to three — twin boys and a daughter. And now I’m “Mimi” to my five grandchildren — Harper, Olivia, Jace, Brylee, and Brielle! I spend as much time as I can with my family, including my husband, Cris, who lives in San Antonio and works for the San Antonio Spurs. Needless to say, I spend a lot of time in airports flying to Cincinnati, Las Vegas, (where my boys live) and San Antonio!
I love to read books and articles about education, Harry Potter, sports — particularly baseball — biographies. I also enjoy decorating my home, and spending time with my friends.
I feel very lucky to be part of Denver Public Schools, and the Traylor Academy family. I work with amazing teachers and staff members who work hard for the students every single day! It is my goal to make sure that every child receives the very best education and opportunities that we can provide for them. And my hope is that you are part of the team, too!
